What?
The client was preparing a high‑value proposal to develop a multi‑sensor network intended for long term surveillance in the maritime environment. Although the client had strong technical capability in platform infrastructure development, sensor integration, and mechanical engineering, they held only a limited understanding of the real‑world operational context in which such a system would be deployed. With a compressed delivery schedule and the need for credible operational justification, the client required rapid access to specialised domain expertise.
How?
RC Fornax leveraged its network of senior engineers, operators, and defence practitioners to provide targeted operational insight. We identified and engaged a former senior naval officer with direct experience in operations.
Acting as an embedded advisor to the client’s engineering and bid teams, our consultant was used to validate proposed system architectures against realistic mission profiles and environmental factors through their participation in ‘red‑team’ workshops to test assumptions, identify vulnerabilities, and strengthen the operational credibility of the solution.
RC Fornax also supported the refinement of key proposal sections including CONOPS, operational value chains, system effectiveness narratives, and mission‑level performance rationale. This ensured that the engineering design aligned with actual naval operational requirements rather than theoretical assumptions.
Result
The client stated that, without the operational depth and domain expertise provided by our consultant, they would likely have been unlikely to produce a viable proposal. The insight delivered by the RC Fornax associate was considered critical and irreplaceable, significantly strengthening the technical credibility, operational realism, and competitive standing of the bid.
